I want to explain some of things that have affected us because of the COVID-19 disease. COVID-19 has affected our day-to-day life and many things have changed in our lives. COVID-19 has affected us in many ways and has changed our day-to-day living.

Firstly, COVID-19 has affected our movements in different areas. COVID-19 has affected the ways we travel. If we are using public transport like minibuses, minibuses rate are very high and we cannot afford because we do not have money.

We use to travel by minibuses but now we are suffering because they have hiked the bus fares and now rules have changed like wearing masks which others are following and others not, which puts us at risk of getting COVID-19. A few people use hand sanitiser because it is expensive and those who have it keep it hidden in their bags or car.

Secondly, it has affected our workplaces and most companies are not making profits, as a result, people have been laid off and may are not working and their lives have changed because they do not have any job to take care of their families.

And for those who are working, they are working differently, some go today and others go like tomorrow and others are working from home and not at their offices. These are the things that have changed significantly, and the workplaces have changed so that people should not take the disease.

This disease has also affected many villages. This disease has also affected our different traditional practices. Here at our village, the various activities that we do like funerals, weddings, traditional weddings, village meetings, all these are not happening, either they are happening using strict measures or not happening at all so we should not get COVID-19. The togetherness that we used to do in our villages like luncheons as a group, they have also changed because of COVID-19.

Children’s education has gone down. They are going to school but not learning for a long time, they are taking turns, others are going in the morning and others in the afternoon to avoid spreading this disease.

Other activities have stopped because people are concentrating on preventing COVID-19. Today we do have get-togethers to eat together.

Lastly, the cultures that we do here at the villages, we are doing them but with precaution by following the by-laws set in our villages like every household need to have a basin were to wash hands by using soap but when we are meeting people, we need to wear a mask and stay further apart.

Life has changed and we are staying restrictively because we are not used to this. There is a huge change because of the COVID-19.
