The prices of many essential goods have gone up. Meat, cooking oil and sugar have gone up. This has affected my life a lot, though I have never been forced to skip meals because of it. I have just reduced my consumption of chicken and red meat and I have increased the number of alternative sources of protein like beans and soya pieces I eat. My diet is much better and healthier because I am eating more homemade meals and fewer takeaways.
We are also making sure we eat enough fruit and vegetables. We get fresh fruit like mangoes and bananas because they are grown locally and so they are cheaper. I do not have my own vegetable garden at my house, but then I am able to get fresh vegetables from the market such as tomatoes which are readily available.
My protein intake has been greatly affected by the COVID price increases because meat prices have gone up. Even though it is like that, I am still trying to maintain my protein intake by replacing it with some other cheaper and more readily available proteins; beans and other legumes and soya pieces that have got high protein content. I supplement my meals with eggs as well, sometimes fish just to get proteins otherwise things have gone high.
Chicken, beef, fresh fish is expensive and the prices keep increasing. By supplementing with other locally-found products, we are able to eat balanced meals, though COVID-19 has really bought problems in our lives and has affected us both financially and socially as well. I am unable to socialize properly but then life goes on.
