I’m Philani, a 32-year-old proud gay man based in Pretoria, South Africa. I am originally from Durban in the province of KwaZulu-Natal. I have three siblings though I’d say we are not that close. I’m currently permanently employed and also studying Psychology at the University of the Witwatersrand (WITS).

My passion is in HIV Education and prevention and I’ve been doing it since 2009. What defines me is the fact that I’m an LGBTQ activist!

One of the thing that pushed me to be an activist is the fact that in rural areas, the LGBTQ community is still not taken seriously. One day I took a personal decision that I will teach people about it – the aim is to end any prejudice and discrimination against the LGBTQ community.
