Elektro

South Africa

My name is Elektro and I’m 35 years old. I was born in Middleburg but I grew up in Mafikeng, South Africa. I started school in 1994 and I did Grade 1 in Bontswe-Tsweding primary school. I don’t know my father at all and I was raised by my mother and my grandmother. I don’t have parents at all as my grandmother passed away in 2014 and my mother passed away in 2018 February.

I have two daughters and I am HIV positive. The thing I like about myself is that I’m a simple and lovely person. I don’t want to see women suffer because I know that pain. I work at Rotanganedza Community Care. I love my job because we are helping poor people with food parcels. When I’m happy or sad I like to sing especially gospel music because it makes me feel better. I don’t like people judging me because I don’t judge because I know what it is like. The thing that I am passionate about is that I want to teach young people about HIV and STIs and what they can do to protect themselves. They must know their status.
